Col Solare, or ‘Shining Hill,’ is a partnership between Marchesi Antinori and Chateau Ste. Michelle, and applies Tuscan refinement to the highly distinctive Washington terroir. The estate’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon comes entirely from the Red Mountain district, and is dark and brooding, with deep, concentrated aromas of black cherries enrobed in high cacao dark chocolate; seamlessly mingling with suave vanilla and sweet spice notes. Powerful and richly-textured, yet with supremely fine balance, the sustained finish evokes an impressive panoply of star anise, toasted cocoa nibs and blackberry liqueur. This fabulous and memorable wine is impressive immediately, while being capable of extended cellaring for 5-15+ years. Decanting recommended.
