Dark fruit notes with some black pepper - in some ways perhaps more akin to a good old-vine Grenache than a Pinot Noir but lovely all the same. Has a lovely savoury bay-leaf character to balance out the supple fruit. The vineyard is a warm, early ripening area dominated by semi-arid flat areas to gently sloping terraces. The yields are kept deliberately low by crop and canopy management to enhance the concentrated fruit flavours. The fruit was harvested in separate parcels in the vineyard and this was maintained through the winery for blending. Each parcel was aged in a mix of 1-3 year old French oak to develop the smooth oak flavours that have integrated with the fine tannins. Made to go with delicate, rich and aromatic food such as duck dim sums, tempura fried vegetables and oriental salads. 13% Vol 750ml. Product of Marlborough, New Zealand 2020 Vintage
